WhatsApp and Security: 5 steps to secure your account now.

📱🔒 WhatsApp hides several super-useful features that you can easily activate to significantly improve the security and privacy of your account. The interesting thing is that these options aren't enabled by default, so it's important to know them and configure them as soon as possible.

This famous instant messaging app, which now belongs to Meta, is a global favorite 🌎. However, it has encountered some issues due to not fully adapting to certain regional regulations, as has happened several times in the European Union.

Luckily, other apps already come with these factory settings. In WhatsApp's case, it may seem more complicated, but don't despair! Here's a step-by-step guide. The best tools to protect your WhatsApp account to the fullest extent 👇.

Here's how to secure your WhatsApp account in just 5 quick and easy steps:

🔒 Restrict your chats with a secret code

Restrict and hide WhatsApp chats

This feature is key to preventing curious people from snooping on your conversations. To set it up, tap the three dots in the top right, go to Settings, and I chose Restrict chats. You'll need to enter a secret code that you'll need to remember very well 🔑.

Another less convenient way to access it is to go to the end of all your conversations (not so advisable if you have a lot of saved chats 😅).

🙅‍♂️ Hide your information from unknown contacts

To prevent personal information like your name, status, or profile picture from ending up in unknown hands, it's best to set it so only your contacts can see it. Just tap on Settings and then go to Privacy and choose who can see your information 🔐.

⏰ Set up self-deleting messages

Did you know you can have messages automatically deleted after a certain amount of time? Go to the Privacy, enter in Default duration and choose between 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days. Great for sensitive or private conversations!

🔐 Activate end-to-end encrypted backup

In Settings – Chats – BackupTurn on encryption to truly protect your data in Google Drive. This way, you'll have an extra layer of protection for your files 📁✅.

🌐 Take care of your IP address

Add extra peace of mind. From Privacy – Advanced, select Protect IP on calls and "Disable link previews". Customize your privacy to the max with these tools 🤓.

Finally, by following these simple steps, you'll have a much more secure WhatsApp account. Take care of yourself and avoid being a victim of fraud and digital attacks 💪📲.

With these five steps you will have protected a large part of your account:

  1. Restrict chats with code 🔐,
  2. Limit who sees your information 👀,
  3. Activate messages that are deleted 🕒,
  4. Encrypt backups 🔑
  5. Protect your IP 🛡️.

These practical measures significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access, fraud, and cyberattacks. Many of them aren't enabled by default, so it's key to configure options like two-step verification, end-to-end encryption, and encrypted backups as soon as possible and review them regularly, following reliable guidelines and recommendations to protect your privacy and security on WhatsApp.

Taking these simple but effective steps will give you greater control over your data and more peace of mind when using the app, thus avoiding becoming a victim of fraud or digital attacks ✅🔒📱
