Asus Q-Release Slim Reviews: Avoid Damage to Your GPU! 🚫💻

Asus has issued a statement following reports that the recently launched Q-Release Slim release mechanism for graphics cards could scrape the sides of the PCIe connector. The company advises users to follow official removal guidelines and assures that the mechanism does not damage graphics cards unless they are removed and installed frequently. However, Asus' language suggests that it is aware that in some cases the sides of the PCIe connector can be scraped. ⚠️

In our internal testing and evaluation of the extremely low number of reported cases, we found no motherboard damage or the graphics card that could affect its functionality and/or performance,” says a statement from Asus. “However, it is important to emphasize that any type of PCIe add-on card will show signs of use and wear marks after 60 continuous insertions and removals.” 🛠️

Asus' Q-Release Slim release mechanism for graphics cards — used in Motherboards AMD and Intel 800 Series — allows users to remove their graphics cards by tilting the card while lifting it up (or rotating it sideways) while the PCIe pressure latch automatically releases. While this sounds simple, in some cases, small pieces can break off the PCIe connector. Based on the images posted, this does not affect the actual PCIe contacts, so it should not impact functionality or performance. performanceHowever, abrasions on the PCB are never good. ⚡️
