If you're also seeing this message when trying to access your favorite website, it doesn't mean the site is dangerous. The 'err_cert_authority_invalid' error can occur because the certificate is outdated, or because your browser is outdated, among other reasons.

In this article, we share with you some of the best ways to Fix the error message in the Google Chrome browser 💻.

1. Check the Date and Time

The 'err_cert_authority_invalid' error sometimes occurs due to the incorrect date and time. If the date and time settings are incorrect, there may be compatibility issues between SSL Validation and the system clock, causing the aforementioned error.

So, before continuing with the following steps, check your date and time settings. Right-click the taskbar and select "Adjust date and time." From there, make the necessary changes.

2. Disable Antivirus and Firewall

SSL certificate issues typically occur when the firewall blocks incoming traffic. To resolve this, users should disable their antivirus and firewall.

To disable the firewall, go to Control Panel and disable it from the Firewall Settings. Once done, restart your computer and the 'err_cert_authority_invalid' error message should disappear 🔄.

3. Disable Chrome Extensions

If you see the error message 'err_cert_authority_invalid' after installing a new Chrome extension, that could be the cause. So, if the methods above didn't fix the browser error, disable all Chrome extensions 🌐.

The next best thing you can do to resolve the NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID error is to update your web browser. Since this error message primarily appears in Google Chrome, here are the steps to update your Chrome browser 📅.

2. In the menu that appears, select Configuration.

3. In Settings, go to the tab About Chrome.

5. Disable VPN or Proxy Connection

While VPN or proxy apps are great for improving your online privacy and security, they can cause several issues.

Sometimes this SSL certificate error appears simply because you are hiding your real IP address.

You can try to disable the VPN and see if that helps. If the error persists, you can re-enable the VPN 🛡️.

6. Clear your browser's cookies and cache

1. Go to Control Panel and click on the Network and Sharing Center.
