Sync Android and Windows. Connect in 1 minute and gain control 🔥
Summary ⚡
- 📱 Phone Link pairs Android with Windows (QR or manual) for notifications, messages, calls, battery status, and multimedia controls.
- 🔗 KDE Connect synchronizes clipboard, files and notifications, and adds remote, multimedia and input controls between devices.
- ⚡ Sync your phone with your PC to avoid emailing files to yourself, reply to messages from your computer, control playback, and reduce distractions.
You no longer need to email files or notes to sync them between devices. Here are two practical and secure methods for wirelessly sharing information between your Android phone and your Windows PC. In addition to exchanging text and files, both solutions allow you to receive notifications, reply to messages, and control media playback from your computer without touching your phone.
Use Phone Link if you prefer a sleek interface and simple controls 📱✨
One of the useful improvements in modern Windows is Phone Link, an integrated app that syncs an Android phone or tablet with a Windows PC and lets you control it from your desktop. Setup is straightforward and designed for users who want a simple visual flow and quick access to messages, notifications, and media without added complexity.
Start by searching for “Phone Link” in the Start menu and open the application. On the first launch, it will ask you what type of device you want to pair; choose Android and make sure you have the Phone Link app installed on the target device.

Phone Link may ask you to verify the connection using your PC password before proceeding. It will then display a QR code that you must scan with your phone's camera or a scanning app. If you can't use the QR code, you can pair manually; the app will display alternative instructions during the pairing process.
✅ If you cannot scan the QR code, click on “Continue Without a QR Code” to manually link the devices. After scanning the QR code, you'll see a one-time password that you'll need to enter on your phone (the Phone Link app on Android will display a field to paste it into). If everything is completed correctly, a welcome message will appear along with a checkbox to start Phone Link automatically when Windows starts; uncheck this box if you prefer to start it manually.

By default, Phone Link displays battery status, recent notifications, and playback controls when media is active on your phone. You can also grant additional permissions to view and send text messages, make and receive calls, and browse recent photos. From the PC app, you can ring your phone to help locate it if you can't find it.

The Phone Link app on Android includes a dedicated button for sending files; these will appear in your PC's Downloads folder. There is a cross-clipboard feature, but its compatibility varies: it works reliably on Samsung devices and some Chinese manufacturers. To sync your clipboard across any Android device or to access more features, consider the following alternative.
Try KDE Connect for more compatibility and advanced features 🔗🎯
Although I use Phone Link on Windows, KDE Connect is the tool I use it most often because of its cross-platform compatibility and because it offers clipboard synchronization for any Android device. KDE Connect includes additional utilities and more extensive controls that are very useful in advanced workflows.
Install KDE Connect from the Microsoft Store or download the installer from the official KDE website. On your phone, install KDE Connect from Google Play or F-Droid. Both devices must be on the same network to discover and pair; the connection usually works even if the PC is connected via Ethernet if both devices are on the same subnet.

Note: Both devices must be on the same local network (it also works if the PC uses Ethernet and the phone uses Wi-Fi on the same network).Open KDE Connect on both devices, select the target device, and tap "Pair." Accept the pairing request on the remote device, and they will be linked. The KDE Connect interface offers several tabs with actions such as sending to the clipboard, transferring files, and more, and its appearance is more functional than that of Phone Link.

KDE Connect allows you to send copied text between devices with the "Send Clipboard" option, and if you use Gboard, the copied text instantly appears as a chip on the top row of the keyboard.

You can also easily send files from both ends; on the PC, the transfer can be done file by file.

Additional features include controlling presentations with your phone as a remote, remote multimedia control, using your phone as a cursor and keyboard, syncing notifications and contacts, and sending/receiving SMS messages from your PC. These functions help reduce the need to pick up your phone while you work.
If you tend to pick up your phone every time a notification pops up, syncing your mobile device with your PC minimizes that distraction and streamlines the exchange of texts and files. Phone Link offers a polished and straightforward experience, while KDE Connect provides broad compatibility and advanced tools for more technical workflows.
