MEC1308-NU is an I/O controller for notebook computers.

It incorporates a high-performance 8051-based keyboard system controller with 64 Kbyte RAM, 1 Kbyte boot ROM and 16-byte battery-operated registers.

The 64K RAM is loaded via the HOST/8051 SPI memory interface, which can be configured in either switched SPI flash configuration or parallel shared serial peripheral interface (SPI) flash configuration. 

It has four PS/2 ports; a 16C550A-compatible 2-pin UART for the debug port; a consumer-grade IR receiver for Vista, two 8584-style I2C/SMBus controllers with two ports selectable per controller; and a Serial IRQ peripheral agent interface.

MEC1308-NU has two separate power planes to provide system power management and “instant-on” functions.

In addition, the MEC1308-NU incorporates a sophisticated power control circuit (PCC).
