AI Privacy: 3 Steps to Block ChatGPT 🚫

How to opt out of AI model training on ChatGPT, Gemini, and others

AI Privacy: Key Points

  • To prevent ChatGPT from using your data to train its AI models, go to the ChatGPT website, click your profile icon, select "Settings," choose "Data Controls" > "Improve Model for Everyone," and turn off the switch. 🚫
  • In Google Gemini, open the site, click "Activity," select "Deactivate" > "Deactivate and Delete Activity," and then click "Next" > "Delete." 🗑️

If you don't want AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Meta, Grok, and Copilot to use your data to train their models, you can opt out. Here's how to do it from your computer or mobile phone. 📱💻

AI Privacy: About ChatGPT

ChatGPT offers a simple option to prevent its AI models from using your data for training. You can use this option here. Remember, you can re-enable it at any time. 🔄

On Computer

Abre tu navegador preferido y accede al sitio de ChatGPT. Inicia sesión en tu cuenta si aún no lo has hecho. Desde la esquina superior derecha de la página, selecciona tu ícono de perfil y haz clic en «Configuración.»

"Settings" highlighted on the ChatGPT site.

In the settings window, from the left sidebar, select "Data Controls." In the right panel, choose "Improve the Model for Everyone."

"Data Controls" and "Improving the Model for Everyone" highlighted on the ChatGPT site.

In the Model Improvement window, uncheck the "Improve Model for Everyone" option. Then click "Done."

"Improve the Model for Everyone" and "Done" highlighted on the ChatGPT site.

In the future, if you decide to allow ChatGPT to use your data to train its AI models, simply toggle the "Improve Model for Everyone" switch. Done! 🎉

On Mobile

Open the ChatGPT app on your phone and tap the two horizontal lines in the top left corner. Scroll down the menu and select your account name. Then, select "Data Controls."

On the Data Controls page, turn off the "Improve the Model for Everyone" switch.

To allow ChatGPT to use your data again in the future, turn the "Improve the Model for Everyone" switch back on. That's it! ✅

AI Privacy: About Google Gemini

On Google Gemini, you can disable your app activity, which prevents the platform's AI models from learning from your data. Please note that Google continues to store your data for up to 72 hours.

On Computer

Launch your favorite browser and access Google Gemini. Log in to your account on the site if you haven't already. Then, from the top left corner of the site, select the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines). In the opened menu, choose "Activity."

"Activity" highlighted on the Gemini site.

In the new tab that opens, next to Gemini Apps Activity, click "Disable." From the available options, select "Disable and Delete Activity."

"Deactivate" and "Deactivate and Delete Activity" highlighted on the Gemini site.

At the bottom, click “Next” and choose “Delete.”

And you're ready! 🥳

On Mobile

Launch the Gemini app on your phone, tap your profile icon in the top right corner, and choose “Gemini App Activity.”

Next to Gemini App Activity, tap "Turn Off" and choose "Turn Off and Delete Activity." Then, select "Next" followed by "Delete." 🚀

And that's it! 😉

Meta allows you to exercise your right to object to the use of your data to train the company's AI models. Meta collects data from your Facebook, Instagram, and messaging accounts. Unlike other platforms, you don't have an option to opt in or out of the feature. You must complete a form and submit it to Meta for the company to take action. 📝

To do this, open a web browser and go to Form to Oppose the Use of Your Information for AI in Meta. Click the "Email" field and enter your email address. Select the "Please Tell Us How This Processing Affects You" field, indicate that you do not want your data used to train Meta's AI models, and click "Submit." 📬

On Computer

Open your browser and launch the X site. Log in to your account, click the three dots in the left sidebar, and choose "Settings & Privacy."

"Settings & Privacy" highlighted on the X site.

Select “Privacy & Security” and choose “Grok and Third-Party Collaborators.” On the next page, turn off “Allow your Public Data, as well as your Interactions, Inputs, and Results with Grok and xAI, to be Used for Training and Tuning.”

In the future, if you'd like to allow Grok to learn from your data, simply enable the checkbox. 🔄
