Disable Windows Chrome Security: 7 Clicks and Done! 🔓🚀

Google Chrome users probably already know that the browser can authenticate users with Windows Hello to provide access to saved passwords. If you've set up Windows Hello on your device, your Google Chrome browser may ask you to enter your PIN to access your passwords.

This security feature is designed to protect access to your stored passwords. This new system adds an extra layer of security to confirm if the device owner is trying to access passwords saved in Google Chrome. 🔐

Disable Windows Authentication in Chrome?

While the feature is very useful and prevents unauthorized access to the web browser, it can cause confusion for users. The problem with protecting Chrome passwords with Windows Hello is that the feature requires authentication every time users want to access their passwords.

In addition, when active, the function prompts users to enter their PIN every time Chrome attempts to autofill saved usernames and passwords. 😩 So, if you're tired of having to enter your PIN every time to fill in your passwords on websites, it's best to disable the security from Windows to Chrome.

If you turn off Windows Security for Chrome, you'll need to enter your Windows account password to access saved passwords in Chrome's password manager. You won't be prompted to authenticate with your Windows Hello PIN while the browser attempts to autofill passwords on websites.

How to disable Windows security for Chrome

Disabling the PIN requirement for saved passwords in Chrome is pretty easy; just follow a few simple steps below. Here's what you need to do. 👇

1. To begin, open the Google Chrome browser on your computer or laptop.

Is the Use Windows Hello when filling out passwords option unavailable?

If you don't see the 'Use Windows Hello when filling out passwords' option in Chrome's Password Manager, your device probably isn't using a Windows Hello PIN.

Google Chrome will only ask you to use your Windows Hello PIN if it's already set up. If the PIN isn't available, Google Chrome will ask you to enter your Windows Hello password to access your saved passwords.

The default option does not prompt you to enter your Windows account password when filling in usernames/passwords on saved websites.
