One UI 🔋: Ways to maximize battery life on your Galaxy S25

Summary

  • With regular use, your Galaxy S25 battery loses its ability to hold a charge, resulting in shorter usage time between charges. ⚡️
  • Although the battery aging process cannot be prevented, you can slow it down by using the Battery Protection feature on your Galaxy S25 ⏳.
  • This function offers three load profileseach with a different approach to controlling and limiting load carrying capacity. 📊

What is the crucial aspect of the smartphone that matters a lot but is often ignored by both ordinary users and enthusiasts? Battery life. While constant use degrades the health of your smartphone's battery, it's not always the same. Galaxy S25The Battery Protection function can help to preserve the battery. 🔋

Samsung uses lithium-ion batteries in its smartphones, which convert chemical energy into electricity during use. Each device has a battery capacity, which defines the amount of electrical charge it can store, expressed in milliampere-hours or mAh. 💡

For example, the Galaxy S25 has a 4,000 mAh battery (relatively smaller than some competitors). This means that, out of the box, the device's battery (in brand new condition) has a maximum capacity of 4,000 mAh. 📱

Lithium Ion Batteries Age with Use

However, as with any other smartphone battery, the lithium-ion battery in your Galaxy S25 (no matter which variant you have) degrades with constant use. Regularly charging and discharging your phone negatively affects the battery and reduces its maximum charge capacity. ⚠️

You may not notice the difference in one charge cycle (equivalent to 100% of battery capacity), but it starts to accumulate with regular use. Most people don't realize that the phone battery ages faster the longer it spends at levels near 100% or below 20%, i.e., when it is fully charged or nearly empty. ⏱️

On one of its support pages, Samsung mentions that constantly charging and maintaining your Galaxy S25 at 100% "can significantly shorten" battery life. However, by controlling how you charge your phone, you can keep the battery at an optimal level, improving its longevity and performance. 🌱

Since it is not possible to manually monitor the charge levels of your Galaxy S25, Samsung has equipped the device with Battery Protection function. Available with One UI 6.1 or higher, the function adjusts the load pattern for your phone to spend less time at 100% (after leaving it plugged in overnight or for an extended period). 🌜

How to Activate Battery Protection?

By default, the Battery Protection function is deactivated on your Galaxy S25. However, you can enable it in Settings > Battery > Battery Protection. ⚙️

Once you activate the feature, you will be prompted to select between three different protection profiles: Basic, Adaptive and Maximum. Let's understand what each profile does for your Galaxy S25's battery.

The Basic profile stops charging once your Galaxy S25 battery reaches 100%. The phone starts charging again when the battery drops to 95%. In this way, the Battery Protection function prevents continuous charging, which is harmful to your smartphone battery. 🚫

The Adaptive profile stops charging when the battery reaches the 80% while you sleep and resumes when you are about to wake up in the morning. For this, the function estimates your sleep time according to your usage patterns (which means it is not designed for users with irregular sleep schedules). 💤

If you have not yet activated it, the Adaptive mode will prompt you to turn on the "Customization Service. It is a configuration that allows applications and devices to to track your activities and interests to provide personalized content, search results and other recommendations. 🔍

If you don't want to indulge in this, you can set the Battery Protection feature to Maximum, which limits your phone's battery to 80% (with an option to set the charge cutoff to up to 95%). Consider this a manual lock that always keeps your battery at the optimal level and helps prolong its life. 🛡️

While Maximum mode might be an excellent choice for Galaxy S25 Ultra or Galaxy S25+ users (since these devices come with a larger battery), it might not be the best option for standard Galaxy S25 users (who have the smaller battery), who would be better off with Basic or Adaptive profiles. ⚖️

Tips to Maximize Your Galaxy S25 Battery Life

Optimizing the display settings, such as brightness, screen timeout, dark mode and refresh rate, can help reduce the load on your Galaxy S25's battery. Similarly, keeping connectivity options disabled additional features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or GPS when not in use can help conserve power and extend battery life. 🌙

As a general rule, you should avoid using chargers or low-quality third-party cables with your smartphone. Always use products from a reliable company. Also you may consider disabling fast charging in Settings > Battery > Charging settings > Fast charging. 🚫⚡️

There you have it. Now you know how your Galaxy S25's battery works and how it ages over time, as well as the best way to prolong its life and get the most out of your expensive but beautiful Galaxy S25 💖.
