How to approach Shoring Up Defenses strategically
The mission seems straightforward, but the scale of Riven Tides completely changes the execution. Optimizing routes, resources, and engagements makes the difference between completing objectives and wasting rounds.
Arc Raiders Mission Guide “Reinforcing Defenses”
Shoring Up Defenses, added in the Riven Tides update Arc RaidersThe tasks seem simple at first glance—covering windows, repairing a Raider structure, and eliminating flying enemies—but the map's size makes them difficult to find. Here you'll see not only where the objectives are in Riven Tides, but also when it makes sense to go for each one and what signs to look for so you don't waste time on unnecessary rounds.
Strategy for completing Shoring Up Defenses in Riven Tides

The mission consists of four objectives within the Riven Tides map:
- Board up the closed hotel windows
- Use 1 ARC Alloy to reinforce the Raider structure on top of a Stacking Yard crane
- Destroy 5 Wasps
- Destroy 3 Fireflies
You don't need to solve everything in a single round: you can complete objectives in separate games and return without lose progress. If you prefer to split the work, prioritize what's easiest for you based on your role in the team and the weapon you're using; air kills can be completed in other matches, but if you're in Riven Tides it makes sense to take advantage of the concentration of enemies here.
Where to find the hotel windows and when to approach them

The "Board up Window" interactive feature is located on the east side of the Panorama Azzurro Hotel. Not all facades have interactive windows; look for those with clearly marked boards or blinds—on the exterior galleries and balconies—and climb using the exterior ziplines.

Practical route: Climb the exterior ziplines to the ledges and traverse the balconies until you identify the window with the interaction marker. If you're alone and the area is crowded, consider approaching from the highest facade to minimize close contact; if you're in a team, one person can provide cover while the other performs the interaction.
The Raider structure on the crane: access and signs for repairing it

To reinforce a Raider structure, you need an ARC Alloy. Ideally, you should have one from the start of the game; otherwise, you can obtain one by destroying a medium-sized Arc robot or opening a husk. In the Stacking Yard, there's usually one on top of the western crane: access it through the adjacent building to the south or use the zipline from below.
When you arrive, you'll see a small tent or canvas shed; interact with the left support point to consume the Alloy and complete the objective. If the area is active with enemies, prioritize setting up cover before climbing; repairing the structure is a one-time use, so coordinate to avoid wasting the Alloy if you need to leave the area.

Tap the left support of the shed to consume the Alloy and complete the objective. If you don't have an Alloy and need to obtain one, prioritize eliminating a medium-sized Arc in less crowded areas to avoid losing it in a chaotic fight.
Where and how to close accounts with Wasps and Fireflies

The Stacking Yard frequently concentrates Wasps and Fireflies and offers stone buildings that serve as stable firing points. If your primary objective is casualties, focus on narrow corridors and cover where enemies pass through in waves; avoid chasing flying units across open, unprotected areas.
Practical decision: If your loadout favors control (area bombs, traps), use corners to force Wasps through. If you're a sniper or prefer precision, wait for approaches from high ground and avoid exposing yourself to multiple attack vectors. In either case, nearby buildings allow for quick retreats and reduce the likelihood of being flanked.
Rewards and when to collect them
