The new Raspberry Pi Pico 2 has Wi-Fi.

Raspberry Pi has released a Wi-Fi version of its recently released Pico 2 board for just $2 more! 🌟

Known primarily for its single-board computers based on Linux, Raspberry Pi Raspberry Pi also makes more affordable programmable microcontrollers in its Pico line. Now, the company has introduced an upgraded version of its Pico 2 board, which launched in August. This new version uses an improved chip running at 150MHz that debuted in the original Pico as Raspberry Pi's first homegrown chip, featuring a dual-architecture design that allows switching between the architectures of the Pico and the Pico 2. CPU ARM and RISC-V. 🚀

The new boards are compatible with the Bluetooth 5.2 low energy standard and are available in two versions: with or without Wi-FiHowever, only the 2.4GHz wireless band is supported using the Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) protocol, leaving the faster 5GHz behind. If you're creating smart home projects, it's best to opt for Wi-Fi 2.4GHz. Although it is slower than 5GHz, the 2.4GHz signal penetrates walls and other obstacles better. 📶 A Raspberry Pi Pico 2W microcontroller board.

The new board is powered by the RP2350 microcontroller, which is very reliable and allows you to run custom code directly. You can write your code in popular programming languages such as C, C++, and MicroPython, which is a version of Python designed specifically for microcontrollers. 🖥️

When programming the microcontroller, you can choose between a pair of ARM Cortex-M33 cores or two open-hardware Hazard 3 RISC-V cores, switching between the two at boot time or selecting the appropriate one to develop your code on. That means you are not forced to choose only the ARM or RISC-V version; you have the option to use either when you need to! Your code is stored on 4 MB of memory. memory onboard flash. The RISC-V architecture is an open alternative to ARM and x86, following the established principles of the Computers Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC). The applications designed for this architecture can be simple and energy efficient. ⚡

The new Pico 2 W is fully compatible with the hardware and existing Pico software. You can purchase your Pico 2, with the Wi-Fi version at just $7 and the non-Wi-Fi version at $5, from one of the Raspberry Pi preferred retailers listed on their official site. 🛒
